ANGELA L. BROWN, MD

Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Washington University School of Medicine

Angela L. Brown, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Washington University School of Medicine. She is Director of the Section of Hypertension, co-director of the Office of Faculty Development for the Department of Internal Medicine, and co-director for the Center for Community Engaged Research within the Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences. She received her undergraduate degree in Electrical/Biomedical Engineering from Southern Methodist University and medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine. She completed residency training in Internal Medicine at The Jewish Hospital of St. Louis at Washington University. Dr. Brown is board certified in Internal Medicine and is certified as a Hypertension Specialist by the American Society of Hypertension.

Dr. Brown has been a member of the ISHIB Board of Trustees for the past four years and is the secretary/treasurer. She is currently the president of the board for the Greater St. Louis Division of the American Heart Association, and is a member-at-large of the AHA’s national Science Advisory and Coordinating Committee. She is a member of the American College of Physicians, Association of Black Cardiologists, Mound City Medical Forum, and American Society of Hypertension where she serves on the CME and nominating committees. She has been voted one of St. Louis’ “Best Doctors for Cardiovascular Disease” for the past five years. Her research interest is in the area of hypertension and its relationship to other cardiovascular risk factors and heart function. She is engaged in community outreach activities that promote heart healthy living, particularly in women and minorities.
